Hi puppies! I'm glad that all of you wanted to join Oslo Pups. We've now organised our first pup event, walkies in Frognerparken! Here follows some information about what will happen:
For any questions or if you're new to this and want to know more, contact me, Pup Waggles. I promise to listen and help.
Where?
Cafe OSLOK
Frognerveien 58, 0266 Oslo
Frogner plass, we will start with pup out pre coffee and walk a set route in Frognerparken.
Please respect the business by not wearing hoods in the coffee shop, there is plenty of time for that :)
Who?
This is a 18+ event. No exceptions.
All genders, all pups, all handlers or just anyone interested in pup play.
Do you have any specific needs, requests or disabilities ? Contact me, Pup Waggles. For example If you are unable to walk the entire distance, we'll do a shorter route for you.
How?
Pup out coffee followed by walking a set route in Frognerparken. When we reach our destination we will have some structured play (good for puppy skills!) for those interested. After that we will head back to where we started.
When?
Friday, August
What is the goal of this event?
The goal of this event is to provide a safe space for puppies to feel safe and included, for anyone nervous or new to "dip a toe in the water" and meet other pups, to get to play while meeting and socializing with other local or non-local pups by providing a planned event that includes play and fun.
If you are new to these kind of events:
Are you new to this? Are you nervous about your first pup out?
No worries, most pups are. I was terrified going for my first time, but it ended up one of the best days I've ever had. By the next day i was barking and chasing balls with the rest of the group happily, and I felt totally at home. I will gladly welcome you personally and make sure that YOU are comfortable. If you want me to come and greet you outside the coffee shop, or there is ANYTHING else that can be done to make you feel comfortable, let me know any time.
Are you a experienced pup?
If you can verbally encourage and be someone's friends for the day, please contact me! No one will be left out and we promise to be as inclusive as possible. Pups with experience can be great support and help to ensure everyone has a friend to find, when they arrive.
Safety:
The walk itself is a safe event. Walks take place worldwide, and we expect great fun.
Pupping on all fours might hurt your knees and wrists, or tear your trousers if long. So if you want to be on all fours, it's highly recommended to bring bring proper knee protection. Knee pads aren't expensive and can be bought from builder and diy stores, motorcycle gear shops, and online.
(All times are provisional, they aim to help people know when we expect to be where, and what's happening.
12:00 - 13:00
We will meet at the coffee shop at Frogner plass for a relaxed coffee and chat, and to get to know others before the event. Say hi or woof!
13:00
We will head on foot for Frognerparken. There'll be a pause for anyone who wants, to change into their hoods and gear. Then we'll be walking on a route we've already checked out, to our play area.
We aim to have about an hour of playtime, starting with completely free play (any kind you like!), and then, for those who want it, we aim to include a 20 minute structured play session for those who want, to help pick up new puppy skills and ideas.
I would also like to mention that I am not at all a experienced handler but i hope the structured session will benefit those who want to gain some improvement to their simple pup skills, like tracking objects, commands, and good posture. More information on the theme of the structured play, will be available on the day.
Note:
This group is new. We are aiming to eventually have regular events, perhaps at venues, and also other events as well as walkies and socials. All of this will happen, but first we need to figure out what works and what does not. In the beginning events might seem irregular, and as time and events go by we will learn what works. Thank you for your understanding and please give any feedback to Pup Waggles, good or bad :)
